There are many concerns that new patients experience when they first consider signing up with the state marijuana registry. We try our best to answer any questions you have directly and honestly. The recently established state system is designed to be completely secure, and accessing records holding information about you are restricted, like standard medical records. Patients sometimes think they are exposing themselves to future legal problems if they add their name to a government database. While this seems a bit paranoid, there is always the possibility of data leaks, online hacks and attacks, or some other unforseen release of sensitive details concerning those within the database. Untoward events like these are not beyond possibility for any data source, anywhere.

Another primary focus for future patients is locating a doctor who believes in the validity of using marijuana as a medicine. We at Colorado Alternative Care Services are able to help you find a compassionate medical doctor. We're not affiliated with any particular professional, but we can provide you a list of experienced practitioners willing to help you, at affordable cost. After a brief, non-invasive exam, you will be legally qualified to possess, buy, grow and consume marijuana in the State of Colorado. The state issued license is honored in New Mexico, yet Colorado does not reciprocate by honoring New Mexico's medical cannabis licenses. Once you acquire the doctor' authorization, we at CACS have the relatively few state forms needed to sign up with the marijuana registry. We will guide you through filling out the documents, notarize them and make copies for yourself, the state and ourselves. Once you've filled out the paperwork, you are immediately able to purchase medicinal products, up to two ounces, as limited by state regulation. While you wait for the state to officially issue your "MMJ Card" you are qualified to be a medical marijuana patient, make purchases, possess and use marijuana, within the strictures of the law (not in public, not in presence of unregistered individuals, etc.). Recent applications are being processed much faster than earlier in the program, and cards are being mailed back to new patients within four to six weeks from applications being mailed in. Cards are only good for a year, and must be renewed (a doctor needs to sign off again).
